Hi im finding it very difficult to add my french bank account to my Uk paypal account. When i try to add a new account it gives me uk or us options only.Has anybody managed this?
My OH has bought an item on Ebay which was listed in dollars. Even though we have the means to pay Paypal in dollars they will not let you do that, and you have to pay them in your account curency (in our case Euros). This is because they make an absolute killing on the exchange rate. In effect, they now have a virtual monopoly over the means of payment on Ebay, since Paypal is "preferred", and they take full advantage of that fact! They make a big deal of their "Paypal protection" but if you take these currency charges into account it is quite an expensive insurance policy at the end of the day.
You can only have one payment card or bank account associated with your Paypal account so you cannot set up a GBP card, a Euro card etc. to cover all eventualities. You would need separate accounts for each currency, and I believe these would have to be associated with a billing address in the associated country of the currency, so they have got you.

Nah, you can have multiple cards and accounts set up on your PooPal account, you won't be able to add a bank account that is not registered to an address in your PP "home" country.
You can register a card that's registered to a foreign address, just type in the address and ignore the fact that it says "france" at the bottom and you can verify/link the card.
There is no problem at all with a UK bank account/card registered to a french address.
